A New Tomorrow

A year after March 11, everyone still thinks back on the horrific events of that fateful day that changed Japan forever. Living far away from the Tohoku region, the consequences I faced as a result of the earthquake and tsunami were relatively minor, limited to small inconveniences such as a shortage of electricity, bottled water, bread and toilet paper. However, March 11 has made a big impact on my perspective on life, reminding me that it is short, and that if there were things I wished to accomplish in my lifetime, I needed to take the initiative and put my thoughts into action. It is symbolic that with this blog entry, I will be leaving my workplace for a year, in order to pursue studies in a brand new field in a college in the United States.

March 11 inspired me to collaborate with a couple of my friends to create this music video. I hope this will inspire everyone to do what they want to do with their lives. There is a new tomorrow for everyone.

A New Tomorrow
Lyrics by Noriko Furuya

Music by JoeTAM

Thousands and thousands of lives were shattered
On a peaceful spring day
Innocent lives were swept away
Coastal towns swallowed up by the waves

Desperation is in the air
But life goes on
Lives miraculously held on
And precious ones were born
All of this world's behind you
There's hope for a new tomorrow
The dawn of a new, new tomorrow

Where there's a will there's a way
Is the saying
Words to inspire
In the midst of despair
Adverse conditions will change your life
Make it better
It's all up to you

Desperation is in the air
But life goes on
Lives miraculously held on
And precious ones were born
All of this world's behind you
There's hope for a new tomorrow
The dawn of a new, new tomorrow
